Cautionary Tale of the townhouses, rowhouses, duplexes, or condos with CONJOINED roofs, Beaverton OR

So you're excited you got the mortage loan and your all set for several years UNTIL the roof leaks. "Oh, I'll just call someone to fix it", you say. NOT SO FAST!

The Conjoined roof, Common roof, is a single, continuous roof structure that spans across multiple independently owned housing units (like townhouses, rowhouses, duplexes, or condos). When it's time for a roof repair or roof replacement - you've now got to consider your neighbor's roof and their financial wherewithall and/or desire to fund their portion of the common roof. And what if their roof isn't leaking?...Tough sell - because they're not in crisis - you are!

Oftentimes you haven't talked with your neighbor and now you've got to talk to them not only about a potential roof replacement, but about money with a STRANGER, no less. Good grief, can your life get more complicated? Yes. Questions like, who's going to do your roof and who will do theirs? Will it be the same company? What if you don't like their roofing company or they yours? They somehow need to work together, right!? What if the two roofing companies can't get to your roofs at the same time? It's a mess with a capital "M".

As AC/DC says, "I was caught in the middle of a railroad track I looked 'round and I knew there was no turnin' back, My mind raced and I thought, "what could I do?" And I knew there was no help, no help from you..."
